iPad iOS 6 update stuck/stopped

I bought my iPad four days ago and I haven't gotten to use it yet! I'm annoyed!

My brand new iPad 3 was started from a backup of an iPad on iOS 5. After the restore I then went to do the iOS 6 update. It has been stuck downloading this update for three days! What the heck! I did a hard reboot but it is still doing the same thing. Is it supposed to take this ridiculously long?

Any suggestions or articles would be much appreciated. I just want to play with my new iPad! lol

Try and force the iPad into Recovery Mode:

1. Turn off iPad

2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone

3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad

4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen

5. Release the Home button

6. Open iTune

7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"

8. Use iTune to restore iPad

Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad
