Did you create the account on the iPhone using the Hotmail account preset, or manually as an Exchange account?

Are you also accessing the account with an email client on your computer such as with Outlook or Outlook Express/Windows Mail? If so, how do you know the email client used on your computer for accessing the account isn't responsible for this?

Im having this exact same problem. And i agree i now think its the iPhone as its putting them in the POP deleted folder which is where hotmail store messages that are deleted from another server incase we deleted them by accident.

Id swap email accounts to iCloud but my iTunes match is set to my hotmail account and I dont think i can change it.

Let me know if you resolve this problem.

So this is doing the exact same thing to me.

What you need to do is.

Settings

Mail

Click the account

Click advanced

Then click deleted and never.

This is very simple. But I can't actually do this with the email account that is deleting itself!!

Rubbish I have important emails that keep disappearing!!

Good luck to those that are successful with this!!

The same thing is happening to me. At first I thought it was the outlookconnector on my desktop, but right now the only device linked to my Live account is my iPhone. I set up the account as a hotmail account, which should use the EAS and not POP. Sometime within 30min my phone must try to delete the files in my inbox on its own, because the inbox files get moved to a Trash -> POP folder. There are no advanced settings, as it is not set up as a POP account. If I navigate to the Trash -> POP folder, and move the files back to the Inbox, it is reflected correctly on my iPhone and in my Live account online, but again sometime within 30min the files get moved right back to the Trash -> POP folder. Has anyone resolved this? It is very frustrating...

I am having the same issue, but it is only deleting random e-mails. I started a new job this week, and they issued me an iphone. I set it up to accept e-mail. Our office uses windows mail. I confirmed today that random e-mails are deleted minutes after i read them, but most others are fine. At first I was suspect of our mail service but today I also set up my new work email to also go to my personal blackberry. Within minutes of recieving a particular e-mail today on my iphone and reading it, it deleted it self. I know it is not the mail service because the e-mail is still present on my desktop, as well as my blackberry. Does anyone have any ideas? BTW it is a 4S

Thanks

What is the account type - Exchange, IMAP or POP?

If not an Exchange account, can the account be created and accessed as an IMAP or POP account?

If the email is still present on your Desktop, the account must be a POP account.

If a POP account, what is the account setting with Windows Mail on your Desktop for removing messages from the server after being downloaded?
