, but it says it is offline ? help!

I have lost my iphone 4 . Can it be traced ? I have tried locating it through another handset using the 'find my iphone' app but it says its offline , Is there another way to locate it ? I also have the four digit keycode on it . Is that impenetrable ? Im worried someone may get to my private information
