You can get an AirPort card if it doesn't have and and use the Internet. Of course, depending on what you mean by "low" memory, it might not be an enjoyable or by any means speedy experience. Does it have 256MB? I was going to suggest you upgrade that, but with a machine that old, I wouldn't invest too much in it.

Well, let's not be that hasty!

What is the eMac's CPU speed?

If it is a 1.25 or 1.42 Ghz CPU speed model, it's worth investing some time and money in the eMac.

It will be a little more than adequate for the Internet and would run older OS X applications well.

Plus, this eMac will run OS X 10.5 Leopard pretty well, too!

If the eMac is a lesser model than what I have shown, then I don't think it's really worth any extra costs, time or effort.

There are two broad families of eMacs, not apparent from markings on the machine. However, the differences affect the ability to upgrade. Knowing which you have would allow us to present a more targeted response to your upgrade question. Here's how:

From your Apple menu, do "About this Mac" and, in the resulting window, click the "More Info..." button.

That brings up a screen that looks like this:

    SysProf_main_forASC.png

The second line shows the family---older eMacs will have "PowerMac4,4" and newer ones will be "PowerMac6,4"

Next the processor speed---it's the fourth line.

Please post both those values but no serial numbers. We will then have enough information to give more accurate advice, and with prices in you are in N. America. That should make it easier for you to make a decision.
