Cannot connect to the App Store

I'm using an early 2011 13" macbook pro . I recently upgraded to mountain lion. I didn't have any problems as such but in the past few days, I've been unable to access the mac app store. I've tried everything like deleting the app store cache and plist files, checking the certificates for a blue "+" sign (none of the certificates had that) and restarting the laptop to no avail. I've always used the Google DNS. I was once briefly able to access it for a minute and successfully updated one of my apps but then the same image shown below comes up afterward. HELP PLEASE?

Several things to try ...

- Temporarily disable anti virus software if installed.

- Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent access to the App Store

Try deleting cookies ...

Quit the App Store if it's open.

Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy/paste: ~/Library/Cookies

Click Go

Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.

Empty the Trash, try the App Store.
