I do not understand this article. Near as I can tell, it says that Apple is updating Java by removing it. The article also says it removes the Java Preferences pane, but it is not removed at all.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5)

Hello:


This update uninstalls the Apple-provided Java applet plug-in from all web browsers.

Notice the language. The update removes the applet plug-in, not the java application.

The update removes the Java Preferences application. How did you determine the application is still on your system?
