screen gets locked at a weird zoom

On second day of unboxing my iphone 5 my iphone screen got stuck in an odd zoom %. At some point during switching back and forth between apps and main screen, the main screen became a little larger than the 4-inch screen allowed and wouldn't zoom back to fit the screen. It was cutting all four sides of the screen, and i noticed the screen was also moving very slowly up and down. At this point, it was just a little annoyance and a slight concern, but everything worked fine. I gave it the benefit of the doubt. After letting the phone go black for a while, the screen came back to normal.

Three days later, the same thing happend again. Except this time the zoom was highly noticeable. In fact, the screen was stuck at about 300% zoom. The clock filled my screen left to right, and couldn't get the phone to unlock because the slide bar was wider than the screen. This also meant i couldn't reboot the phone either. I hoped that the phone would come back to its normal state if i left it go black for a while again. but no, it wouldn't come back. I later figured out that i can navigate through the screen by touching the edges of the screen and eventually was able to unlock the phone to reboot.

I have tried to search through the web and the apple discussions but have not yet found a report that seem to match mine.

I have the same problem now. This past 24hrs, it kept showing me the zoom in/ zoom out screen. Now it is stuck in extra zoom mode. I tried what you said about tapping the corners, but when it takes me to the password screen, I can't get it to go up and down, only side ways. What else did you do to get the passcode entered, did yours move up and down? And slide to unlock won't move in either direction.

I can't even get it to turn off, thanks. (By the way, I have always known about the 3 finger method, but that has only worked for regular zoom. Is it supposed to work for super zoom too?)

Okay, I got it figured out. Yes, it said edges, but that didn't help anyway. The corner did help, because it got me to the password screen, luckily I miss read 😁 ... Anyway, somehow I bypassed the password. I did a long press on the home button, did a voice prompt and that got me in. I hooked up the phone to my laptop, and moved the settings button to a spot that I could press and found out that the image I see on the screen is different from what the phone "sees" . So I pressed the areas that I would normally press (as if it where in normal mode) and that took me to settings, did the same for the rest, until I got to zoom and slid the button over. It was a lot of guess work, but it's done! (none of the 3 finger taps or the taps & drags helped... nothing in the manual helped).

I hope this helps all in the future ... better yet, hopefully you won't get stuck in super zoom mode!
