The ipad 4th generation and ipad mini was just released a few minutes ago and I was wondering whether to upgrade to the ipad 4 or not... I have an appointment at the apple store this Friday regarding the unresponsive home button and if I happen to get a replacement will I still get the ipad 3 as a replacement or will they be told to not continue the ipad 3 for replacement and tell me to wait for the ipad 4?

There is no ipad 4. If it is determined that your current ipad needs to replaced due to a hardware failure, it will be replaced by the same model as the one you have now.
It is not 'brand new', as in purchased from a store, but is new in the sense that it has never been used.
There is an ipad 4 if you watched the apple event today... It is a hardware failure because the home button just suddenly stopped working for some reason... So what are the chances if getting a brand spanking new ipad?
If it is a warranty replacement, you will get the exact model, colour, and capacity as you presently have. Nothing more, nothing less.
If there's an iPad 4, which itself would be interesting since there is not an iPad 3, but its not on the apple on line store anyway, just the iPad mini. But the chances of getting an 'new' iPad are really good if you want to pay for it. The hardware warranty only covers you for a replacement though.
It's called the ipad with retina display but he says ipad 4th generation... And will the replacement be an unopened exact same ipad as I currently own? The ipad 4 has 720p FaceTime camera... A6X core processor... Lightening connector but with all the same features as the ipad 3

What an absurd remark. They could give you nothing. Instead for a set price you get a refurbished replacement for much less than it would cost to buy it new or refurbished.
No. Why upgrade? The new ipad 3 or is it the ipad 3s or is it the ipad 4, is just a beefed up ipad 3 with the lightning connector. That doesn't seem like a reason to "upgrade"
It's the ipad 4 but on the website it's says ipad with retina display... And yeah I don't see the point to be quite honest in upgrading because it has the same back camera and 1080p video but the front facing camera is 720p... I don't even use FaceTime or take photos using the front facing camera anyways... Plus I don't mind the 30 pin dock connector... The new lightening one looks like it will snap easily... Also the gaming graphics on the ipad 3 or new ipad is amazing but they implaced an A6X chip so that it can stay in competition with other manufacturers... But at the same time I feel old now with the ' the new ipad'... The ipad mini is just a complete fail... Even Steve jobs said that a tablet less than 9.7 inches doesn't feel right and shouldn't really class as tablet...
