Q: Final Cut not Recognizing Card
I have a late 2011 15-Inch Macbook Pro that has the Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
I bought this computer about 5 months ago and immediately installed Final Cut Pro X version 10.0.4
Among several cameras I do videos with, I have a Sony HDR-CX190
For the last 5 months I have made hundreds of videos using several cameras having no problems. Final cut imports media easily from my Canon T2i and my iPhone4s. FOr the past 5 months, I would put my Sony camera's chip (a PNY 32GB 20MB/s) directly into the side of my computer. When I would either right click an event and import files, or click on the camera import button, it would bring up all of the videos on the chip. I would select which videos I wanted and import them accordingly. Importing was quick and easy.
2 weeks ago this randomly stopped working. Here are some trouble shooting measures I have taken and the information I know.
The videos are on the chip; the chip is not broken. I can watch the videos on the flip screen on the actual camera, and my friends with windows have imported the files.
My card reader works because I still import media from my canon's memory card. The FINDER also recognizes the card, but has the videos stored as MPEG files and can only open them with VLC.
I have also tried the USB import by plugging a USB chord into my camera while chip is in it for another attempt at importing.
FCP will not recognize the camera, the card, or any of the videos on it.
How do I get my system back to the user-friendly plug-and-play it has been for the last 5 months?????
