This is a Windows error. If restarting the computer and checking the processes does not work, then have you attempted to remove and reinstall iTunes? You need to follow the instructions in this support document to do that. Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

After reinstalling iTunes, then see if you get the error. Checking your firewall and anti-virus software helps. If you have Kaspersky anti-virus, it does not work well with iTunes.

    Hi everyone,

I have this error since last night after I hard reset my phone due an error of syncing my music. I thought (silly me) the factory reset will solve the problem which apparently not.. I have tried several method including uninstall and re-install iTunes, my firewall's always off and I've switch avast anti-virus off, but my phone still stuck on the 'connect to iTunes' screen. My phone was able to be identified as 'iPhone' to iTunes but every single time it tried to connect to iTunes, there's a pop up saying: The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be activated because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000004). Please try again later.

And now I'm quite exhausted for trying this and that method..

Can someone kindly help me solve this? I'm in need for any kind of help, anything. Thanks in advance.

BTW, I'm using iPhone 4S iOS 7.1.2 (which grey-ing my wi-fi and I wont complain about that), 11.3.1 iTunes and win.7 for my laptop.

    i've got the same behavior

    - iphone 4 / IOS 7.2.1 --> syncing music and after getting problems with low on memory because to much loaded i'm having trouble

--> NO WLAN --> reset device --> place new Image ...

but still every time connecting to iTunes --> ERROR 0xE8000004

I tried many cables on fixing it with an iMAC late 2009 OSX 10.9 and Windows 8.1 connected only with USB2 keyboard and mouse.

So my device got's corrupted by placing new music ??? I can't believe it !!!!

Apple told me my device has got any unknown defect and i have to pay for it but due to that much claims

    about 0xE8 i don't belive in a hardware damage.

Is there any way to get an older Image into my iphone 4 ;-)

    regards
