On the 5th October, just outside the 14 days but do you think I have a chance of upgrading to the new ipad as said on cnet.com?

It's only 7", and does not have the the top of the line screen definition your iPad3 has.
Bee, I believe there is a new "iPad 4" as well. Neither are yet available, even to order. I suggest Sirlust46 check with Apple at the phone number at the bottom of this web page.

I heard some apple stores allow 30 day returns.
Here is a link to Apple's return policy - it is 14 days (30 days for iPhones):
Apple makes exceptions to the normal return policy for upgrades and refreshes. Several sites have already reported a 30 day exchange to buy the new model which fits what they have done in the past for MacBook Pros, etc.
Best thing to do is check with Apple.

The Apple store in Leicester has offered exchange without any issues. No hassle, take mine in on 2nd Nov and get new one!
I'd bought my iPad 3 two weeks ago in PC World, i contacted them and they won't honour the same 30 days exchange as my local Apple Store. The Apple store won't exchange it as I didn't buy off them, so the 30 days offer doesn't apply to everyone, which actually makes Apple's offer even worse than no offer at all!
