My ipod won't let me transfer photos?

My iPod touch fourth gen won't register as a device on any computer. I've tried using different cables, different computers, different ports. Nothing works! i just can't get it to register, so i can access the DCIM. It's worked about three times on my laptop, and only once on my PC. But it hasn't worked since.
