iPad, iOS 5.1.1
I have the same issue. Crash every time I try to use iBooks on my first gen iPad running iOS 5.1.1
Same thing here. ibook 3.0(1210) on ipad1
Ibook was working fine.. Until this update.
All books/PDF have disappeared.. Apart from the last one I was reading.
Anyway it crashes after 30sec.
Now I know that it was on the automatical update list. The most autodestructive system.
same problem,it works too slowly, the edit botton was unable to use
Same set up, same problem. Fortunately, I ran the update from the iPad and my iTunes still had the 2.2 version. I deleted the app from the iPad, then connected it to my iMac and added the older version back in. Didn't lose any of my books or organization. The newer version is running beautifully on my 4th gen iPod touch.
I believe you need to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1.
I have iBooks 3.0 (1210) running on an iPad 1 and iOS 6.0 on an iPad 2 running the same iBooks version.
see if upgarding helps...
The original poster and I are both running 5.1.1. If it works for you, that's great. It's not for us, and before going back to the earlier version, I deleted and downloaded iBooks 3.0 a second time on the chance that something damaged the original download.
Running 5.1.1 already.
I can't finish a page of the only book left I have before it crashes.
Alright so if you made the fatal mistake of uploading this update as I did, I have found a solution for you after much trial and error. If you have a Mac, look in the TRASH bin and find iBooks 2.1.1ipa and move this to your desktop. Erase the iBooks 3.0 from your iPad. Restart your iPad. Go to the iTunes Media fold, mobile applications and find iBooks 3.0ipa and delete it. Now drag the file from your desktop into the apps section in iTunes. Turn on your iPad. Connect it to sync. Go to apps tab and check iBooks. After sync your iBooks library will now be restored. I have tested it and tried it, besides I came up with this whole process because apparently apple has nothing on the entire support for this yet. I will also post on Apple for the million other users who have the same problem. Thanks, J.
Same issue. iBooks crashes on my iPad 1. This is an Apple error for sure.
Have the iOS 5.1.1 and it doesn't work.
This helped and I can read all my books!!!! Glad I didn't blindly update my Iphone because I have a feeling it wouldn't have worked on it either.
Same Here, iPad 1 iOS 5.1.1, iBook 3 keeps crashing... even after deleting iBook app/soft reset/reinstall...
NOT COOL APPLE!!
I use my iPad mainly for reading!!
Ok, I am awaiting a fix to the original Ibooks 3.
In the meantime: delete the new app from your your Ipad and turn the unit off.
Next if you have a Trash Bin on your Mac, find the Ibooks 2.2.ipa and drag to your desktop.
Open your Itunes on your Mac find iBooks in the apps library, right click and delete it. Then drag the iBooks 2.2.ipa to that window. Restart your iPad and and attach sync cable to start the sync cycle. Select your iPad from the left window panel, then click on apps for the iPad in it's window, make sure the iBooks app is selected and you may have to resync to get the iBooks 2.2 to copy to your iPad, that should restore the previous edition until the problem is corrected.
So what I posted yesterday worked for you too?
Same here. I have keept my old Ipad for all my books... more than 200 books now. And now I'm facked....HELP please apple!!!
