"Your calendar couldn’t be refreshed."

I made the mistake of trying to cut and paste flight info as an entry on a specific date. Now when I try to open calendar, I get that message, which renders the calendar useless, and the only way out is to force quit. Fortunately this has not affected my work computer, ipad or iphone, just the macbook pro (running OSX 10.8.1) I read somewhere that I should go to library, put the calendar on the desktop then restart, but I can't find whatever file I'm supposed to find in the library. Can anyone help?
