Q: find device won't work

Have an Ipod Touch with the lastest IOS. Icloud will not locate the device.  Tone will play but location cannot be located.  It is not lost but would like to be able to have location display in Icloud in case we need to use it.  Have all settings on and find the iphone app.  Very frustrating.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6

If the device is connecting via wifi to your home modem, it might be that the modem and your ISP does not have a location defined.

Try using a public location that has wifi and use the Find My iPhone app to try to locate itself.  If it works, then you'll know it's your home modem that's the problem.

Thanks very much for the advice.  I'll try it out tomorrow.  Will also look into how to set a location as my IMAC does not have a location defined in Icloud as well.  I don't know if this makes a difference but when I do an internet search, i.e., "car repair", local business are displayed first.  Does that mean a location is set?

    Thanks again.
