How do I empty Aperture from my Trash after reinstall?

I recently did the failed Aperture 3.4 update. It failed, so I had to delete Aperture & reinstall. Aperture currently functions well. However, I cannot empty my trash, because Aperture is there from the delete. When I try to empty, a prompt shows saying that I can't empty trash because Aperture is in use. Hmm - Aperture is not even open. What do I do?
