MacBook/iPad2 synch & purchase issue

I bought a MacBook Pro in Canada. My friend bought an ipad2 in Slovakia. I connected the ipad to my Mac, synched some photos and tunes. Now, when my friend wants to get something from the app store, google translate for example, a message appears saying that his account will not work for the Canadian store and that he must switch to the Slovak store. What is going on here?

The iPad is tied to the country in which it is sold "out of the box".

Does you friend actually live in Canada and have an iTunes account in Canada with credit card that is registered to a valid address in Canada?

And by the way, you shouldn't sync his iPad to your iTunes library.

The ipad was bought in Slovakia.

My friend lives in Slovakia - I am visiting from Canada.

I have an iTunes account with credit card in Canada.

My friend has no such thing.

The ipad user/email/etc is my friends - no credit card or iTune account.

So, purchasing in Slovakia seems to be stopped because of the synch/attachment to my computer/iTunes/credit card?

Your friend must purchase from his own country's store using his own credit card - or gift cards if available. If your friend did not set up an Apple ID yet and has no credit card, I would urge him to set up a new Apple ID withou a credit card and there is a very specific way of doing so.

Like GrumpyGator stated, not all content is available in all countries. Here is the information on setting up the ID without a credit card.

If he already set up the ID, there will be different issues to deal with if he doesn't have a credit card. It gets a little more complicated if you try to not use a credit card after the ID has been set up.
