My iPhone 5 just stopped working now not visible with iTunes

I'm sorry, that is a super C.rappy situation for yourself or anyone else to have happen to their brand new iPhone let alone the LATEST one the "5", should have been Perfect

This just happened to me! Nothing seemed to get it to turn on. Was about to head to store but decided to Google "iphone 5 stopped working" and this forum was first result. Tried your little trick with the home key and power key. Presto. Thanks for your input. Phone is working just fine now.

Same thing just happened to me, through no instigation. Ive had my iphone 5 for a couple of weeks, working ok, came to reactivate it from sleep and got no response at all, tried plugging it in and still nothing. Found this thread and the trick worked, I'm grateful to find the post but the occurrence is disconcerting, has anyone had any recurrent problems with this? I bought my phone abroad and am going back to UK soon where I'm worried the warranty won't cover it. Considering going back to the store in case I have further troubles with this handset.

Just had the same problem. This same solution worked for me, too. Weird!

Same thing here. It's like it completely shut off. Lock + Home button will restart it but it has happened twice now. I might do a restore and see if that fixes it.

I will add to this thread as my iPhone 5 went totally dead; blank screen, no power, not recognized when plugged in etc. Holding down the lock button & home screen worked for me as well. I was / am using iOS 6.1.3 and this is the first problem I have had. Would be interested to see if the restore fixes it.

I've had my Iphone 5 for less than a year. Plugged it in to charge it last night and this am it was flat dead. Could not get it to turn on for anything. I read this forum and tried the combo power and home button trick that I found here and it worked. What the fudge? Is this an inherent issue with the Iphone 5? If so, shame on Apple. And thank goodness for the internet and good people who are willing to post solutions.

Same thing just happened to me. I've had the iPhone 5 for 6 months now, no problems...until today. It was working fine, then the next time I tried to wake it up - no response at all. The lock + home button trick worked! Seems to be working OK for the moment.

Same for me. Riding down the road iTunes playing through my car stereo and it just quit ... Blank, no power, power button, home button, nothing worked. Got home put it on the charger .... Nada. Plugged it into my Mac ... Nada. Like the others I was headed out to get it fixed, got hit with a lazy bug, and searched google. Found your little trick. It worked and the phone is working properly. A little worrisome though ... Why the **** do they do that?

Thanks so much!!! I went to sleep last night and my phone was on, woke up this morning and it was off..plugged it into the charger, nothing! Then I was about to go to the store to see what was the **** was going on when I decided to Google my problem first lol. Your directions were right on!! I saw the apple logo pop up and I was so happy..then my phone turned right back on as if nothing was even wrong! What an annoying glitch! But thanks so much for your help!!

Yup, just happened to me too, and the solution worked! Interesting that this is happening to us randomly, long after the phones have been working fine. Wonder what the common link is? Something in email? A certain number of hours or data number where it glitches off? Ghost of Steve Jobs? Well, he probably woudn't do that...
