Cant get the 'Require password n Mins after sleep or screensaver begins' to Activate. Its Disabled.

When I leave my computer for x minutes I come back and its asks for my login details. So, I should set my screensavers 'Start After' set for never.. I cant that option is greyed out I cant change it at all. So, you say... go to security & privacy and set the 'Require password n minutes after sleep or screensave begins' and set that to never ... nope I cant do that either, it too is greyed out. I have clicked the lock to make changes, but it just makes everything except this option become enabled, the 'Require password' option is still disabled. Can anyone please advise?

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Hmm - I'm getting your exact behaviour. All the menus are 'Greyed' out (disabled).

My display goes into screen saver after exactly 1 minute and into loging lock some ime after.

I'm pretty sure this is a new problem and not one I had with the original 10.8 I got on my new MacBook Pro retina.

Anyone have an idea on how I could get the require password for sleep etc. activated again?

I need some programs to run continuously, and now they freeze as the machine puts itself off after 1 hour which is rendering my Mac experience annoying. Sleep etc. are on "never" but after 1 hour it goes off.
