I'm using a macbook white with the mac os x 10.5.8. now my macbook can no longer open finder and any of my application. I heard that the only way to solve this is to restore it. Now my brother has the mac os x 10.6 installation disc but I'm not sure if I could restore it using that installation disc. Please let me know. Or if you can help solve this finder problem, it would be better 🙂

Black retail disks work on other Macs but grey disks supplied with Macs only work on that model.
With a grey disk you may be able to install on the correct Mac and clone it to another Mac with Carbon Copy Cloner.

What colour is your brother's install DVD?
What model Macs do each of you have?
Grey disks supplied with Macs only work on that model. Unless you both have the same type it will probably not work.
