iPad 3 + Wi-Fi + Big Jambox + Bluetooth = Problem

If I try to use my Big Jambox via Bluetooth to a third-generation iPad that is using Wi-Fi to play Pandora or Netflix, it will work for at best a minute then fail (studders, then stops playing, press play button, plays for a few seconds, same problem).

  • Wi-Fi used is both a "normal" Wi-Fi device with plenty of available throughput, as well as a 4G LTE Mi-Fi device with a very strong signal and plenty of throughput dedicated to the iPad. Same problem with either.
  • Absolutely no problem using iPad and Pandora via iPad's internal speaker. Only occurs when using the iPad and Wi-Fi concurrently with a Bluetooth-connected Big Jambox.
  • Jambox can be one foot from iPad and it is still a problem. Mi-Fi device is within a foot of iPad also. Wi-Fi distance is well within distance specs.
  • No problem using the Jambox via Bluetooth and either Wi-Fi method with a MacBook Pro or a iPhone 4s. This only happens with the iPad 3.
  • No problem in establishing the Bluetooth connection.
  • This happens regardless of quality setting in Pandora.
  • Using most current Jambox software; iPad is fully up-to-date (iOS 6) as well.

I can confirm that it does work. I regularly use my iPad and iPhone 4 with both the Big and regular Jamboxes streaming both audio and video over WiFi with no issues what so ever. I don't use Pandora but I do use TuneIn Radio, Downcast and other apps which are also streaming HD video.

I think I would start by resetting all the devices. On the iPad close all recently used apps in the multitask bar then power it down completely then restarting it. Reset the Jambox to factory settings, first turn off Bluetooth (or better yet "forget this device" in the iPads Bluetooth settings), then pair it up again.

To restore your BIG JAMBOX to the original factory settings, follow the instructions below.

1. Turn OFF your JAMBOX.

2. Turn OFF or disable Bluetooth on all paired devices.

3. Turn ON your JAMBOX.

4. Wait for LED to blink white.

5. Press the TALK button (Circular button with a J in the Center) 6 times in quick succession.

6. The LED will turn solid red for approximately 6 seconds.

While the LED is solid red, press and hold the TALK button until the LED blinks red and white.
