iCloud + Outlook: no default profile error

I'm trying to sync my iCloud contacts to Outlook, but I get the following error:

"Setup can't continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. Check your Outlook settings and try again"

However, there is a default profile set, the registry has:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles]

"DefaultProfile"="Outlook"

Which is where the default profile is stored (also the profile exists, obviously).

So that error is a fat lie. Uninstalling Office 2010 x64, iTunes, iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and removing all profiles and then and reinstalling in the same order and creating a new profile does not fix the problem.

Maybe someone knows where iCloud is looking for the default profile? Because it doesn't seem to look in the place MS stores it.

I have the same issue.

I had iCloud 1.x working with Outlook 2007 x32. A few months back I upgraded to Office 2010 x64, which (of course) broke the iCloud integration. I've waited for the "fix", and have now tried to - very unsuccessfully - install iCloud 2.11. I've repaired, I've uninstalled/reinstalled, I've set default profiles, I've changed mail accounts...nada.

Any other suggestions?
