Temporarily dismiss shared network drive "Connection failed" errors when away from network

I have a number of shared network drives set up on my home LAN that OS X connects to at login (login items). When I am away from my home network, I receive repeated "Connection failed" error alerts as OS X attempts to connect to these shared network drives. The alerts do not stop, no matter how many times I dismiss them (click OK). Is there a way to permanently dismiss these errors or terminate OS X's attempts to connect to these network shares for that login session without removing the network shares from my login items?

I aplogize in advance if this specific problem has already been answered. I only found questions regarding removing network shares that are no longer needed.
