Do I have to fully charge the battery in my iPad before using it?

Hi there,

I bought an ipad2 a couple of days ago and have not used it yet. So, I am wondering does it need to be fully charged before first time or, it can be charging as while as using it. But for better battery life, the battery is supposed to be consumed as its capacity. That is what I have found from a forum.
