My Iphone 4s went completely dead and now it will only charge up to 1%? This has happened to me before but the last time it wouldn't charge at all...so i brought it to my sprint store, where i bought it a couple months ago, and they plugged the phone in and it started charging the first time they tried... They told me it was my charger...but it wasn't cause i have a couple different chargers and cords that i tried using.

how much did the phone charge up to when you went to the sprint store? If you can get some battery life on the phone plug it into the itunes and back up your info, then restore it
If youre not able to do that then i recommend just going to the apple store, if anything since youre still under warranty they'll replace the phone free of charge

I had an issue with my iPhone 4S today too, I upgraded to iOS 6 three or four weeks ago. Today, I plugged into a wall charger, it didn't charge, later I went for a drive, tried my in car charger, it wouldn't charge, I came back home, plugged into my notebook, it said the iPhone connected is in recovery mode and must be restored and updated, hmm isn't iOS 6 the latest? Anyway I have said OK to update and restore, the restore is now saying about 1 hour, it is charging now though!
I figure I have a battery issue, and need replacement, in the shop right now, hopefully not for ages..........
I have almost the EXACT same problem with my 4S. If I want it to charge past more than 1 or 2% I have to turn the phone completely off , but only after its plugged in. By the way when I plug it up to my Mac book pro that IS running most current iTunes it doesn't recognize the phone but my wives iphone 4 it recognizes just fine.
I took it in and the battery was tested and deemed in working order no prob so I really have NO IDEA what to try next. I been living with the inconvenience for almost six months already but really really want and need to get it solved since I'm basically w/out a phone whenever it needs charged, remember it must be shut off. It won't even stay on if its plugged into the wall.
