When i plug it into my PC, it connects to itunes, and asks me to restore it. After I restore it, it asks me to prepare for a system recovery for the ipod. Then it repeats this endlessly. It is out of factory warrenty as far as i know.
I thought it was a battery problem, but it may be more than that. Is there any hope for my ipod?

Try changing the iPod's drive letter as it may be conflicting with another device that has the same drive letter assigend to here. See here for more details.

I tried that, but the computer management system is recognizing it as 14.75 gb healthy oem partition. not an ipod. its not giving me any options to edit it. when i click on it, it just says help.
Can you try doing doing a low level reformat of the iPod's flash storage to try and resolve the issue?
