how to use multiple desktops?
can i have different icons on different desktops?
basically i am looking at having a personal desktop and one for business that my customers might see
I have never used multiple desktops so any/all info on what they are most or best used for appreciated
MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)
Aparently you can`t really make changes to each desktop, like you`d do to your phone...
My question is what`s the purpose of this tool if you can`t really use each desktop individually, with each one having different files, apps etc - like a work desktop, a fun desktop, a clean desktop ?

The Mac OS and iOS are similar but different. The iOS 'desktop' is really nothing more than an application launcher so it is more like the Mac LaunchPad than it is a 'desktop'. Mission control is less about the desktop and more about applications. For people who run multiple programs and windows it can get messy trying to switch between programs and windows. The ability to 'pin' an application or set of applications to a desktop is very helpful.
I would suggest to create different users for work and home. Then, use fast user switching to change desktops.
