ical setting default reminders for new events REALLY early.

Okay, here's one for ya. (see the attached screen grab.)

My ical sets the alert randomly, but always at least 1100 minutes before the event, despite what I set it to in preferences. Anyone heard of this?? I show the mac geniuses at the mac store, and they don't know what's causing it.

Is it a google issue?

Anyone have an idea of the right vernacular or terminology to use when searching this problem? I'm usually pretty good and fixing my own issues, but this one has me stumped.
