Lots of things, including a defective charging adapter or contamination in the power receptacle.

Try an SMC reset:

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
  3. Remove the battery (to remove the battery - click here: MacBook or MacBook Pro).
  4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
  5. Release the power button.
  6. Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
  7. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Thanks for your offer of help. I have the same problem. I have done the SMC reset. Battery still not charging. I've also tried 2 different power adapters. Both display the same problem. The light on both adapters is green.

I just had a thought. Shall I try calibrating the battery? Not sure if this will work, but the first step is to get the green light for 2 hours. Since my light is green, is this worth trying?

Thanks in advance.

Bizarrely, things seem to be working fine again now. Not actually sure what resolved the problem. I put my computer to sleep for about 30min while I drive from home to office. I also prayed it would start working, so it may have been an answer to prayer! I'm a man of faith, so I'm confident it was the latter. Praise Jesus! 🙂

Anyway, I'll post again if there are further updates. I'm currently in the middle of recalibrating the battery, so I'm hoping this will prevent similar issues in the future. If you're interested...

DUDE

My macbook wasn't doing so hot either, wasnt charging and stuff for the past few hours, then I prayed for it, and then plugged it into an outlet that I tried to use perviously and wasn't working. It immedietaly started charging again, and it is on working perfectly fine. hahaha praise Jesus.

I too am a man of faith, pretty confident too that this was Jesus. To add to the awesomeness, my girlfriend witnessed everything. So cool.
Anyways, maybe they should hire Jesus at a genius bar.

Thanks for the thread, I will be following the steps to recalibrate the battery etc. Pretty sure this should take of this problem for the future.

Hey John, same problem here. Removed the battery to store the computer for about one month and when it went back in, nothin. Tried the SMC reset with no luck and am about to battery hop but what exactly are you looking at here?
