How to stop redirecting to porn sites?

I am a part of a women's health forum. Not sexual in nature at all. I've been a part of this forum long before I switched to apple. Why is it that when I go to this forum from my iPad it constantly redirects to either **** sites or the App Store to purchase **** apps? How can I stop this? I'm starting to fear there is a virus of some sort even though they say it isn't possible. This never happened on my PC. And it only happens when I check into this particular forum.

Have you tried this site recently with other computers? If not, try that and see if the behavior persists across multiple machines at this point. If it does, that just means the site has been hacked.

If it's really and truly your iPad only at this point, there are a couple possibilities. One is that your iPad is still using a cached version of the page, and it was hacked at that time. Try going to the Settings app, selecting the Safari item and tapping the Clear Caches and Data button, then reload the site. The other possibility is that the site loads a mobile version of the site when you connect from your iPad, and the mobile site has been hacked while the normal version of the site has not.

It's definitely not malware of any kind, unless you have jailbroken your iPad. If you have, anything is possible, and you should probably restore it to factory settings.

It is still happening after clearing the cache. I don't believe it is a mobile version, though it could be. It looks identical to the regular version of the site that I load from my PC. It redirects to the App Store normally, but when you try to hit the back button it constantly goes to a **** site. As if it has just gone through a series of website pop ups.

i'm having the same problem and none of the suggestions so far have been of any help whatsoever.

that's because the people trying to help haven't been able to look at the problem; it's not inside the iphone/ipad. the mobile server of the website you are visiting has been hacked to redirect you (to a rather graphic **** site). the destination doesn't matter - it's not where you meant to go.

if you change your dns server to the "safe" one listed above, it will block the unwanted (****) site, but it won't take you where you intended. (and it won't block non-x-rated ads, either.)

i managed to trigger the redirection, or not, by changing the "user agent" setting on my desktop mac from "safari mac" to "mobile safari iphone" and back, while always trying to open the same web site. (a harmless local small business' site.) it's their mobile server that's doing the hijacking. (and it needs to be fixed!)

i suggest that you contact the owner of the website that has been redirecting you, tell them what's happening, and ask them to contact their hosting provider.

(as for why the hackers would target ios devices specifically, my only guess is that they've got a grudge against apple for some reason. i don't have an android around to test whether they get hijacked as well.)

good luck.
