I keep losing my contacts with this stupid iOS. I need help!!!

I continue to lose my contacts w/new iOS on all my devices! What do I need to do? It appears that's then iCloud backup doesnt help. they continue to disappear during the day at no specific times and for no reason.

iPhone 4, iOS 6
