Support for the now discontinued.

When will Apple stop supporting the iPad 3 now that it has been officially discontinued as I believe that Apple has a policy of discontinuing software updates after two years from recognising revenue ie 23/10/14 ?

Does this mean that as the iPad 2 is still in production that it will remain supported for longer than the iPad 3 ?

iPad, iOS 6

As you seem to have missed them, I will politely copy and paste the relevant sections for you:

"Unless otherwise noted, do not add Submissions about nontechnical topics"

Your submission is not a technical topic, it is asking about Apple's "policy of discontinuing software updates" (quoted directly from your post above).

Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions.

Your post is exactly that. You are prompting discussion of Apple's software update policies, and asking people to speculate on Apple's decisions regarding those future software updates.

There's your explanation.

Tonefox , sorry your post makes no sense to me.

Thanks Julian for the update, that is far more helpful as I wanted your interpretation of the rules.

I have spent what seems a lifetime poring over legal documents so I fully understand the substance of the document but obviously its the interpretive value that matters.

I believe that the question does not breach the T&C's and that your interpretation is flawed.

Ok. Well, perhaps you can explain to me then how anyone here can reply to your post discussing Apple update policies without speculation, when Apple themselves have not released any information on the topic?

The only non-speculative answer without entering into discussion is "We don't know - Apple have not said".

I see the big guns are coming out, I will make one final point on the matter and that is to say that my question was regarding official support from Apple regarding my new now discontinued iPad 3.

I understand that tensions are running high in your camp following the latest debacle and that you and Julian et al as senior members of the forum are under pressure from above but I fail to see any substance in your current argument.

I am also bewildered as to why you are wasting your time pursuing me.

As has been said, but may have not have been seen fully due to arguments/ disagreements stemming from other threads, is that nobody can fully answer this as nobody here knows the Apple internal policies, anyone who does wouldn't be able to tell us anyway.

Despite the device being discontinued, you would still be able to ask for advice on the Discussion Boards, but as for support directly from Apple, the only people you would be able to ask are Apple themselves.

I'd recommend if you gave AppleCare a call and ask them, they would be the best people to advise on support etc.
