I currently have an iPod Touch 4th Generation and with the recent release of the iPad Mini at a very good price I have been wondering if I was to buy an iPad Mini for general use and education if it would be worth the £270 for my use or is it best to stick to my iPod.

Only you know if you need an iPad. We have no idea what your needs are. The only clue you gave us was "general use and education". This could mean many things. I suggest, in the absense of any detailed requirements, that educational use requires a computer. Unless of course "educational use" means pre-school.
Sorry about the absence in description, well to be honest what I need to know, apart form the screen size is there any noticeable difference in the ipod touch and the ipad mini?

Probably just the bigger screen. (I think it also has a faster processor)
I doubt any one here has actually seen the mini with our own eyes.
Thanks, yeah I was thinking that too ^ but it looks like it may be helpfull with school and just playing games ect.
