Can't open .eml files anymore

Hi everyone,

Recently I noticed a weird behavior of Apple Mail.

I use to save raw messages (.eml) from Mail, and open those later.

Recently I can't open those messages anymore, in fact Mail opens, and it looks like it is opening the .eml message, but nothing happens and the viewer window doesn't show up.

I can see the content of the message with Quick Preview (Finder), but I can't open with Mail.

If I open the message with text edit, it works.

Any idea how to fix this issue with Mail?

Do a Get Info on the .eml file in the Finder and set Apple Mail to be the handler and "Change All".

I tried,

it doesn't work, it opens mail, but it doesn't show the message window.

Is this any message or one particular message? Did you check the Window menu in Mail? Perhaps create a new user account on your machine and try it there. It could be a corrupt preferences file or something.

Hi,

no particular message at all. It just shows the mail main window, and it seems like it is going to load and open the message window, but nothing happen.

Tried "repair disk permission" and other stuff.

Still no luck.

All right,

but how this is going to help to isolate the issue?

Even if it is going to work with another user account, I still have to keep this user active as the primary account.

If it works in another account, then the problem is likely just a preference file or something else account specific. Those problems can be easily fixed. If it happens in the new account, then it is a system problem.

The first step to solving a problem is figuring out where it is.
