Better than drag and drop in this case too?
Yes

Fantastic explanation, and greatly appreciated. Could we get your explanation regarding what to do if Drag and Drop, is indeed, the problem? This is the problem for me, and I'm not sure what to do. Help is appreciated in advance, thanks.
Select the photo(s) and export (file menu ==> export) to the desktop

Thanks for the response, LarryHN. I had actually already read that and indeed was able to export the photos to the desktop.
My question, specifically was: What to do if "Drag&Drop" is the problem?
and specifically the answer is use export

There are a few reports going round about issues with Drag and Drop right now.
I'd start with the basics: back up and then repair permissions with Disk Utility.
Sorry to jump in but I am now having the exact same problem .. I used to be able to drag a photo (or more ) to my email page and send smaller file sizes to friends etc . Now I can sometimes drag 1 but most of the time it converts straight to a Jpeg that is empty .. Other times I have tried to cut and paste and it will be either a blank page or only 3 of the 10 I want to copy to the email page .. This has only started to do this randomly this am .. It was working fine before I downloaded the last Iphoto upgrade .. Any suggestions please as to how we can get this working in the simple click and drag mode that worked great ??
Not sure what your "email page" is but have you tried using a Media Browser rather than cut and paste or drag and drop?
As noted in the thread several times
Select the photo(s) and export (file menu ==> export) to the desktop

By email page I mean "new message" .. Thank you for your help , but I really liked doing it the drag and drop way and I am not sure whey I can't now .. I am a relitivly new user to Mac ( 10 months ) and I thought that there might be a way to get the system back to the way it was , the way I liked it ??
Thanks for your help , but that is not what I want to do .. I really don't want to put pictures on my desktop .. I want to be able to do what I have been doing since I bought a mac , Drag and Drop to my new message page in email .
I guess I am just asking is there a way to get this working again the way it was ??
And as answered several time in this very thread - NO! you have to Export
Sorry that that is not what you want but that is the answer regardless of your personal wants
LN
Sorry LN , that is the answer I would expect from Microsoft , not Apple . I thought that Apple was all aout our personal wants .. My mistake .. I wont bother you with my personal wants an further .
By the way , for the benfit of others , i just found a simple solution at the bottom right hand corner of Iphoto . You can simply hit share and choose which method you would like to use to share ie mail , facebook , twitter etc .
Thank you .
