Updated apps not syncing to phone

Running iOS6 on iPhone 4S. When I download updated apps in iTunes, and then sync my phone, the sync works fine except that the new version of the apps don't sync. Phone shows updates from App Store are still not loaded.

Ideas?

Ok, I have figured out my problem, and perhaps this will help you. Yesterday, out of desperation, I checked the "Automatically install new apps" checkbox, even though this should not really have any effect. It copied 20 apps (random ones, to my eye anyway). I then manually deleted these apps, unchecked the box, and re-synced. For some reason, that was enough to kick-start the process and get the updated apps to sync again. Obviously, your mileage may vary, but this worked for me and solved a 2-month old problem! Good luck!

xrob!! You are awesome! This was my exact problem, and I never wanted to check that box because I didn't want to use the auto-add-new-app feature. Checking it, clicking sync, unchecking it back to the way I wanted it with another quick sync reset it and now my app updates transfer back and forth without any problems!! Thank you!!

In my opinion the checking of the box to "automatically install new apps" doesn't fix the problem of having newer version of apps that have already downloaded on to my desktop.

The reason I don't feel this solution addressed the root problem is that it will automatically fill up the balance of my ipad with any new apps that i purchase as well. I wish there were an option in preferences to automatically transfer "updated versions of previously installed apps" and not just "new apps".

I have severa thousand apps. You can imagine thus that as I'm always adding my ipad doesn't have room for "all new apps" If anyone finds a solution for updating the previously installed apps from files already downloaded to my pc that are a newer version than what is on my iphone, ipad, or mini please post a solution.

Thanks!!

I just recently reinstalled Mavericks. Missed that tiny little checkbox at the end of the list of apps. Now, I checked it, and it seems to be correctly picking up the updates to apps again.

Suggestion for Apple: All of the other tabs in iTunes (Tones, Music, Movies, etc.) all have a single big checkbox at the top, to act as the master enable/disable switch for syncing those particular items. Might the same be added to the Apps page? Thanks!
