email quick look does not work if more than one attachment

When I get an email with more than one attachment, it seems that I can not use quick look to view the attachments. It seems I have two choices. I can either leave it in the small window than opens, in which case I can not read the attachment, or I can go to full screen, in which case it cycles rapidly between the attachments, making it impossible to read them. Of course, I can download the attachments, but that is n ot always convenient. I can not find any applicable setting under preferences.

I have OS version 10.6.8, email version 4.5.
