Multitasking on iOS 6 vs Android

Hi there!

I am quite excited about the new iPad mini. But i wanted to ask about multitasking on the iOS6 especially in comparison with the latest Android OS.

I still think the Android system is very easy and at least 1-2 step ahead of iOS 6. Am i right or wrong?

I am aware of how an iPad multitask like swiping up from the bottom and deleting the apps. But with iOS6 can it do more or better?

Example, can i leave a Youtube video without pausing and then check my email at the same time? Can i check my Twitter whilst a movie is running at the background?

Please advice.

If you are referring to the side by side function some Andriod vendors are plugging in commercials, no. iOS 6 didn't impact multitasking at all.

In iOS 6 most video apps will automatically pause if you leave the screen for another app, but it depends on the app.

Music based apps, like music, pandora etc, and radio based apps, like radio 5-0, will continue to operate in the background while you do other stuff. ( not sure about a phone call, as I think there would be a sound conflict). Other apps will pause when you leave.

So you cannot check your mail while watching a movie, but you can listen to pandora.

What i like about Android OS you can tap one button and you can easily swipe those opened apps to the left or right with ease. My Android phone still doesn't have that "multiview" window where you can do/view one task with another as my phone isn't up to it.

So does iOS6 brings some new and better multiasking funcntionality compared to Android?

And what makes it better in a way with multitasking?

Please clarify.

You can hop from one app to another a number of different ways, swiping included. But it is still a single app view. Whatever you are looking at is the one that is running. (With the exception of the aforementioned music apps). Pretty much the same with the ms rt, and the androids I have seen.

True multitasking ala pc or Mac takes more horsepower than what is available in the pad.

Since I do not own an Andriod, and have no desire to, I couldn't give any specific comparisons. iOS 6 didn't change anything in tems of how an iPad multitasks.As states, many music apps will continue playing if you move to another app, most video apps will not.

Which sounds a lot like double tapping the Home button and swiping to the apps you want on iOS. Or am I misunderstanding what your saying.

I think and from what i know iOS does multiasking in a different way than Android OS. But that's the last time i know.

By double-tapping the Home button or by 4-finger swyping from the buttom one can see recently opened (and running) apps then delete them one by one but like someone has said if one would like to view running apps its all a single view thing.

With Android OS they are going on the direction of 3 buttons on the bottom. The one button on the right will open all the recent (and running) apps and you can just swype them either to the left or right to delete/stop them.

IS there anything new or improved on iOS6 on the multitasking (and deleting apps) front as far what i have mentioned so far?

What is it that you want to do that you can't do in iOS? Or is this just a theortical discussion?

It is not a theoretical question. It is a logical and valid question.

I just want to know whether Apple has made any changes or improvements as to how one does multitasking on an iPad compared to the older iOS5.

Is there still the 5-finger swype from side to side? is there still the 4-finger sipe from the bottom to open and close running apps? is there ahything new or improved?
