Access hard drive remotely

I wish to allow a small number of people (the guys in my band) access to a folder or partition on my hard drive. I want us to be able to share audio and video files so that we can work on projects remotely. I know there is Dropbox or google drive, but the file sizes we are talking about are prohibitive. I want to keep it third party free.

Is this the kind if thing that Osx server would be able to handle?
