Thank you for your response, answer to your question No i am not, i am using the apple keyboard and i am pressing the keys just before the grey screen shows up and the long beep sounds off, but i dont get a loading bar or anything else. Is the NVRAM reset on a cd or is it built into the Imac itself, can i get it on a cd and install it, i bought this imac with no OS on it, so i bought Snow Leopard 10.6 and installed it, all works fine except the imac TAKES 6 MINUTES TO LOAD UP, SOMEONE TOLD ME TO RESET THE nvram TO FIX THE PROBLEM, WHAT DO YOU THINK, by the way it is a usb wired keyboard. 😕

What are you attempting to accomplish? Upload firmware or install OS X? Why are you asking about resetting the NVRAM? These are all different subjects.

Is this what you are asking about:

Creating your own firmware restoration CD: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2213

??

That could be a problem. If it originally had Lion or Mountain Lion installed, no problem. If it originally had an earlier version of OS X, problem. You would need its original System Install DVD.

You are probably experiencing a Hard Drive issue. Since you have the install DVD for Snow Leopard boot the system with the disk in the drive and hold the "C" key until you see the Snow Leopard screen. Then use Disk Utility to "Erase and Re-format" the Hard Drive. Make sure you use Mac OS Extended (journaled). Now you should be able to install your Snow Leopard OS. From there you should update the OS using:

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
