Possible to connect iMac or Mac Mini to an old Panasonic 42PX80 television via HDMI?

Are there anyone here who use a Mac Mini or iMac as a media center connected via HDMI to a Panasonic 42PX80 television set? If yes, is it working OK?

The reason I ask is that I'm not able to connect my iMac (2009) to my 42PX80 television via HDMI cable. The sceen is black and when I search on the web I find that it doesnt seem possible to connect PC to the 42PX80 model via HDMI. And I assume that the word "PC" also includes Mac computers.

Worth mention is that I'm able to connect a Apple TV2 to my Panasonic 42PX80, but I guess that ATV2 can be categorized more as a media center unit than a computer, so maybe it make sense that the 42PX80 can handle it.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), iMac 21.5" (late 2009) 12Gb RAM
