Q: Mac Mini 2012 video blinking out

That's very interesting, there's hardly anyone reporting the issue with MDP>DVI-D. I would like to see if more people are having the problems whilst connected in this way.

That's probably because this HDMI to DVI adapter is in the box of the Mac mini. I changed the adapter because of the problems occuring and had it whitin reach.

I was wondering the same thing. They told me at the Apple Store that they took them off the shelves so they could display more popular products like the iPhone. I think that was a crock. I bought one on Amazon but sent it back the next day. Three different Apple Support people sent me on wild goose chases for 10.8.2 which doesn't exist. Apple has definitely got problems...

Hi Mark, I have been running for about 4 hours and no black screen snow symptoms.   Sorry to see you are having issues with both.  Do you have both the hdmi and tb hooked up at once or just the tb?

It was just a thought until Apple addresses the issue with hdmi, so far so good for me at the moment.

If it helps, my mini has been running with TB to DVI since 16th using Apple's adapter, given to me by the store manager. Not one problem during this time.

All, I got my 2012 Mac Mini back from the Apple service center in Singapore 2 days ago.  They replaced the main board which means a new CPU and graphics processor.  I have the 2.6Ghz i7 model with 8Gb of ram.

I have been running since then without a single black screen and no snow.  Managed to get through 2 1080p movies and a bunch of high def TV shows without any issues.

Will let you know if the problem resurfaces, but maybe there is a hardware element to this issue.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was the HD 4000. Since you're the first one with new hardware could you please look to see what graphics hardware the new motherboard has? It's easy, you simply click on the Apple menu in the upper left hand side of your screen > About This Mac > More Info > System Report > now look on the left hand side - under Hardware > Graphics/Displays.

What does it say up top under Chipset Model? If it still says Intel HD4000 then what does it say under Revision ID and ROM Revision?

Hi MyMac8MyPC, at work at the moment so as soon as I get home I will ge the information on the Chipset model and post so everyone can see if there has been a change to the chipset model, revision ID or ROM revision.

Just for kicks I shot an e-mail to Philip  Schiller and Tim Cook about this issue. It will be interesting to see if I get a response form either. I'll post updates if they arrive.

Got 2 brand new Mac Mini that I was setting up today to be used in a composer workstation. They have been customized with 16GB of RAM and a second drive (Fusion 750GB) from OWC. No TV or monitor are connect to them I simply access them through Remote Desktop through a Gigaswitch. Twice today the screen on both of them turned black. I had to hard reboot them. Not sure if it's because they went into sleep and could not wake up but sure ain't fun to find that out after all the money that was spent of them. It hasn't gone black while working with them although this was my first day and didn't really work that long on them but it did go black after I let them for a while.

PS I'll sift through the 40 pages of this thread!

Recent news is that there may be a fix to this before too long. No time frame as of yet, but we need to keep contacting Apple about this and prod them along until it is fixed. Unhappy customers contacting in droves seem to help drive these issues home for companies that screw up.

iTunes 11 should be here tomorrow or Friday so hopefully that won't be the only thing released.

I would like to believe it would come that soon, however I'm sure Apple is still in the head scratching stage of the fix at this point.
