Dec 11, 2012 5:18 PM in response to Hardhittinzby --A--C--,No, don't panic, if you read the article thoroughly, you will understand that this problem only occurs when you place a USB3.0 device (such as an USB3.0 external harddrive) directly on top of your mac mini, and start transferring data. (That's why I said "under some circumstances")
Or in the words of the article:
"the further away from the Bluetooth antenna the USB 3.0 device is, the less severe the interference."
So if you put your USB3.0 devices at a safe distance from the mac mini you don't have a problem.
If you insist on wanting to do that anyway, the shielding can be fixed following OWC guidelines.

You should be fine. If you do need to add extra shelding just know that there are different grades of shielding foil. You can save a lot of money and buy much better EMI tape by shopping around. One place to get high quality shielding is from 3M. For only 11 bucks you can get 18 yards of it, enough to last most people a lifetime.

Yes, it fixes the blown out gamma problem. I did not have the blinking problem, but I did have the blown out whites ( couldnt see striped backgrounds in the Finder etc ). I applied the EFI update and now all is fine.
Anybody else who installed the EFI update can confirm this? Is this really fixed?
I went for a refund for two reasons: flickering and crushed light colors. The fix for this is equally important to me, but everybody's focussing on the flickering here... probably because this secondary problem is less obvious.
Looking forward to order a new MM, if most people report positive news from now on. :-)

Also please note, pay extra special attention to step number 13.
That connecctor is VERY fragile and easy to break.
This is because most people pry up on the connector socket.

I've seen several people report that this was fixed in the update.

You could write a book on all of the reasons why the Mac is better choice than a windows computer
Once you go Mac, you never go back
(plus you can still install windows on it if you want, so it's like two computers in one)

Dec 11, 2012 5:53 PM in response to Hardhittinzby john_rankin,Hardhittinz, I was in your position. Had mac for years, but Windows last decade or so. Not at all unhappy with my experience and I love my Mac peripherals almost as much as the mini itself: wireless keyboard, magic mouse, and trackpad. That last one is an amazing thing...Took me less than a few hours to feel fully at ease. What took me so long?
My recommendation, FWIW, get the mini, apply the updates immediately, then see how it works. If a few days later you're not happy, return it before taking the time to transfer all your stuff.
I doubt you'll have to return it. IMO.

Dec 11, 2012 5:57 PM in response to MyApple8MyPCby 211171,Day 2 of update for me and problem is fixed %100,
I keep my setups simple, HDMI direct into monitor...as with anything. the more cables and hardware you use the more problems will arise. HDMI is not a perfect science, I hope future hardware makes it foolproof no matter what you use but there are many variables
