yes but hi determines NTSC 60 hz all ready but my country is PAL. i thing 60 hz i better but on macbook pro i already have PAL 60hz

For what reason do you want 50Hz ?

Connect your Mac with a 10 years old TV?

For everything else just use the 60 Hz your Monitor supports.

Even USB TV receiver works with 60 Hz in Europe.

i want 60hz pal ...I'm doing a video for friends and eu is PAL Region...

I'd like to ask if there is someone who can handle console to read .... i have some errors I do not understand.

I havn't seen the blackout since new firmware install.

So it seems to solve the problem.

I just got the update installed last night and only had a few minutes to play with it. I will report back after I've had some seat time with it.

I applied the update 2 days ago, no sign of any blackouts at all afterwards... seems to have resolved the issue.

Just wondering via what connection (hdmi to hdmi or using dongle hdmi to dvi ?) for those that are having success with the update.

I think I'm aware (if I've read correctly) that mini displayport/thunderbolt adapter to hdmi/dvi/vga is not the issue. So all problems stem from the dedicated hdmi port connection.

Been waiting to hear the good news since launch. Still debating whether the latest reports mean I should move forward with the purchase.

Returned my first one 2 weeks ago, then ordered another once EFI update was confirmed. Came with 10.8.1 but now on 10.8.2 with EFI update and have not experienced any HDMI flickering issues.

However, colour (yes I'm a Brit) is still washed out - when using HDMI - HDMI - have tested on my 2 pc monitors and 40" HD TV.

I get around this with monitor by using HDMI - DVI (am using thunderbolt - dvi for second monitor) but it doesn't fix my TV issue. Means that it's still not an option as an HTPC.

I am convinced this is an issue with the Mac Mini HDMI output, as my MacBook Pro Retina, via HDMI - HDMI gives a perfect picture on monitor and TV.

Best test I've found is go into Finder Cover Flow view, then open any other window and move it over the file listing - the altenate row shading suddenly appears in the drop-shadow of the front window.

At least the flickering's been addressed, hopefully the white balance will be next....

Like me, I'm sure most people have been waiting until they could be certain they had good news.  Since there were times I didn't notice a blink for 2 or 3 days, I was going to wait a week before reporting success.  But everything still looks good at this point.  Not a hint of blinking.

There is another thing that gives me hope, too.  It used to be that when I switched users, the animation behaved . . . oddly.  As if the monitor size was being changed or something.  As of the update, it is as smooth as it was on my old Mac.  Coincidence or a related problem?  I can't say, other than to say I'm fairly convinced that the update did solve the problem I was having.

Other people might be having other problems, but on the whole I think the mini is a good purchase.  Apple might have been more tight-lipped than anyone liked, but they did fix this problem in a reasonably timely manner.  If you still notice any serious problems with your setup, you can always return it.

Installed the update the same day it was released and so far I haven't had a black screen. Used to get one about once per session before. So hopefully it's been fixed. I'm quite pleased with this machine now (i7 2.6, 16GB, Fusiondrive).

I had, like so many others, flicker problems with hdmi in the 2012 Mac Mini, but no worse than I could bear it. My setup is: Mac Mini->Yamaha RX-810 receiver->Pioneer TV.

Now, however, after the EFI update 1.7 which would address just that, I have a much worse problem. Now the tv screen loses sync about every 10 seconds instead of just once, randomly, every other day.

However, when I connect directly to the TV, it works just fine. Still, it is NOT a receiver problem. All other devices I have works perfectly, all hdmi ports and all cables are fine.

I would rather roll back the EFI to how it was before, because it was so much better than this… but is that even possible?

No, you normally can't. But, anyway, I'm pretty confident Apple is working seriously to check every possible cause may cause these issues. I'm waiting too.

To everyone still have issues after the EFI 1.7 firmware update, I suggest to post the receiver (if any) and TV/Monitor brand and model.
