Emails

The transfer of Mobile me to iCloud has presented several problems with emails.


I arranged to keep my .mac and .me email addresses so did not anticipate problems.


The first problem was that a whole batch of emails disappeared from my mail box on all my devices. They seem to be lost in the ether.


I now find that I can receive emails on both of my computers and on my iphone, but can only send them from my iphone.


As only the iphone meets the system requirements for icloud, I would have understood if neither worked on the computers.


Any idea

1. why I can still receive emails but not send them?

2. what I can do about it?

imac G5,, Mac OS X (10.4.11), Also have macbook 2.1

Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.

Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.
