Sync Issues

How to sync Reminders and Notes between iPhone OS 6 and OS Mountain Lion, not using iCloud?

It used to be very very simple in Lion and synced without any hitches but now I can't seem to get it to work.

I am not keen on using iCloud as I have several devices on the same account and don't want to use it for syncing as it is already used for other purposes.

If there is any other way, would be very happy to hear about it, thanks!

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

You can still use iTunes to sync these items. Here's information from iTunes help. (You should make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes, iTunes 10.7):

Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad

You can use iTunes to sync your computer’s contacts, calendars, notes, Safari bookmarks, and email account information with your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. For example, if you add contacts on your iPad, you can sync to add those contacts to Contacts on your computer (or Address Book if you’re using Mac OS X v10.7.2 or earlier).

You can sync information on your device with only one iTunes library at a time. When you sync, iTunes determines whether your device or your computer contains the most recent information, and lets you choose the information you want to sync.

HideTo sync contacts and other info with iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad:

  1. Connect your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to your computer.
  2. When your device appears in the iTunes window (below Devices), select it.
  3. Click the Info button and select the items you want to sync.
  4. Click Apply.

Actually, your last post is very confusing because there is no such thing as iTunes 10.7.2.

So maybe you mean iTunes 10.7 (the latest), or OS X 10.7.2 (Lion, the previous version of the operating system).

Regarding your comment "I wouldn't have asked ...", all I or any other person who might answer knows about you is what you've posted above. We're trying to help.

Wow, I am sorry if I sounded anyhow offending but that is really not what I meant 😉

Yes, sorry, I missed a number when writting about my iTunes version. It's 10.7 (21), if it is any clearer.

And I will try to be clearer as it seems I did not express myself so before 🙂

Here is my problem in a nutshell: I connect my iPhone (OS 6) to iTunes (10.7 [21]) on my Mac (OS Mountain Lion 10.8.2) and there are no options regarding Notes and Reminders. Only Contacts, Calendars and Mail.

Is there a way to sync my Notes and Reminders on my Mac and my iPhone not using iCloud?

I am thankful for all and any tips and advices!

I think the Reminders part of your question is settled as well, based on this evidence:

This article and the associated "issues with Reminders and iCloud" link strongly suggest to me that Reminders must be stored in iCloud, period.

It doesn't explicitly say that, but I don't see a way to draw another conclusion.

On the Mac side, when you open Reminders > Preferences, you are led to the Mail, Contacts & Calendars pane of System Preferences. You can admittedly choose some mail account other than iCloud, but there does not seem to be a way to simply store reminders "On my Mac", as there used to be.
