Q: Mac G3
I have a Mac G3 blue and white that a friend gave me several weeks ago that hadn't been started in 5 years. I replaced the pram battery and maxed the ram out to 1Ghz. I then installed Mac 9.0.4 The computer is clean ( fans etc.) and runs very well.
The system specs - 400 Mhz cpu - 1Ghz ram - Rage 128 MB video card - 80 GB hard drive - Rev 1 motherboard chip, I've read Rev 2 with 402 chip was the better model.
My question is I'd like to pick up a retail version of Mac OS X. Could you tell me what version of Mac OS X would be best suited for this G3?
There are various opinions at websites online, but here I believe I'd get the best source of info.

Hello,
Tiger Requirements...
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
* A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
* Built-in FireWire
* At least 256 MB of RAM (I recommend 1GB minimum)
* DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
* At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools (I recommend 20GB minimum)

Then you'll likely need XPostFacto to Install it...

Oh, I think you may need 1 or 2 Firmware updates also...
