I am thinking of travelling or 'on the move' in a car, can my kids watch a movie I have bought or up loaded to my iCloud? Also, how many movies can an iCloud hold roughly?

You must download the movie onto your iPad before you can play them on the move (without WiFi)
HD movies are approximate 3.5GB each.
I have a 1.5 hour SD film that is 1.1 gig.
If the DVD has a digital copy offer on it then you will be able to download it - not all DVDs have that option, and it should say on the DVD's box as to whether it does. As far as I know (and I'm not 100% sure about this), digital copies are one-time only downloads, so they won't be in the cloud for re-downloading.
If after syncing it from your computer's iTunes you delete it from the iPad then it shouldn't also get deleted from your computer's iTunes when you next sync. If you delete it from your computer's iTunes then whether it will be deleted from the iPad when you next sync may depend upon what syncing options that you use - I manually manage all of my syncing, so when connected to my computer's iTunes I just drag-and-drop my content from my iTunes library over and onto the iPad 'device' : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351
But you should copy any purchases/downloads from iTunes onto a backup (e.g. an external drive) in case anyinth happens to your computer's hard-drive - even though you may currently be able to re-download your purchased music, films, tv shows etc there is no guarantee that they will remain available in the store for future re-downloading (and ringtones and audiobooks are currently one-time only downloads).

Operating System and some apps: 2GB
Available Space for movies: 14GB
If each HD movies takes 3.5GB
You'll be able to store approximate: 4 HD movies
iPad minis have 16, 32, or 64 gig capacity (flash-based storage), some of which is used by the OS and the built-in apps (and how a gig is defined) - on a iPad 3 the capacity available for your use is about 57 gig, on a 16 gig version I think that it's about 13 gig
Ah yes. So how much space will a movie take up roughly?
Also I have read somewhere that if I insert a DVD in my laptop, iTunes offers me a digital version that can sit on my iCloud. Is this true? Are there copywrite issues with this etc?

One more question. If I delete a movie for example, that has already been synced/downloaded to my iPad mini from iCloud, will the downloaded version be deleted when next syncing happens etc? Obviously, I would want to keep a bought movie somewhere on my hard disk for future viewing 🙂
Ok Thanks Diavonex. How many movies can an iPad mini hold? The Apple site doesn't give a hard disk capacity as I can see?
