Loud/Noisy Hard Disk Mid 2012 MacBook Pro.
Mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13" i5. HDD is a 500GB 5400rpm Hitachi.
My hard disk drive is too loud.
Tests show it is functioning normally but is clearly audible in a silent room.
It is the vibration from the spinning components being amplified through the aluminium case. It sounds like a whoosh or a whirr or a humming sound.
Pressure on the front right of the case above where the HDD is located attenuates the noise.
Been into a store and a genius said he fixed it for me by opening it up and repositioning the bracket assembly but the noise is the same.
What would you do?
(Not fan noise, iStat shows fans idling at 2000rpm, and nothing intensive on the CPU).
