I can't seem to get my Optoma projector to recognize my Apple TV2. I have the HDMI / DVI converter on the projector end which has always recognized my Blueray player....any suggestions??

We are half way there...the projector now recognizes the box and I am able to watch show on the big screen...however, it keeps dropping the signal and I keep gettting the 'Searching DVI for signal' ...then the image comes back up....obviously very annoying...any suggestions
Whilst DVI will work in many cases, it isn't specifically supported by the Apple TV.
Have you tried connecting the Apple TV to another device to confirm it works and to try to set it to another output resolution before connecting it to your projector.
The Apple TV works fine on the TV that it always connected to....I wanted to check it on the projector before I went out and bought a third Apple TV box for my home theater.
I'm not ver techy....so not sure what you mean by setting it to another resolution before connecting to the projector
Settings > audio & video > TV resolution, try setting it to Auto or 720p first.
